One pot hamburger helper

  • 0.8 - 1.0 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • 1/2 red pepper, diced
  • 1/2 tsp (or just eyeball it) each of:
    • chili powder
    • basil
    • oregano
    • rosemary
    • thyme
    • sage
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 minced clove of garlic
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup broth
  • 2 cups dry egg noodles
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  1. In a pot over medium high heat with some oil, add the turkey, onion, pepper, all spices, and cook until the turkey is browned.
  2. Add milk, broth, peas, noodles, and tomato sauce, bring to a boil, then simmer for 12 - 15 minutes to let the noodles cook and the liquid boil off. Stir often.
  3. Mix in the cheese, remove from heat, cover and let sit for 5 minutes.
This is a _lot_ of liquid. In Sep 2016, we made this with 1 cup tomato sauce, but I think I would make it 1.5 cups (2 small cans) and less broth (adds nothing) and a bit more salt, so it doesn't have to boil off so much liquid.
