Mashed potatoes

now with more Irish! enough for 3-4 people probably -- my rough estimate is 1 potato per person; about 30 minutes
  • 4 small red potatoes
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
  • 1/4 cup butter (chopped into small chunks)
  • 1 egg
  • milk
  • seasonings to taste (salt, pepper, garlic powder)
  1. Bring a pot of salted water (enough to cover the chopped potatoes) to a rolling boil.
  2. Peel and slice the potatoes into 4 to 8 pieces each, about 5cm.
  3. When the water is boiling, spoon the potato chunks in and boil them for 20 minutes.
  4. Drain the potatoes and dump into a large bowl.
  5. Add the butter, sour cream, egg, and seasonings, and mash it all together with a little metal masher or even a large spoon.
  6. After it becomes somewhat uniform, add milk to reach the thickness level you prefer.
