lamb burgers

For yogurt sauce:
  • half a cucumber, peeled and finely sliced
  • 200g yogurt, plain
  • dill or mint leaves, minced
  • Salt and pepper, maybe onion and garlic powder into the sauce
  • Combine in a bowl, let stand a while to meld flavors
For toppings and sides:
  • Sliced heirloom tomato
  • Sliced red onion
  • Ciabatta or sourdough buns
  • Cheese? (I don't think needed with the sauce)
  • The yogurt sauce
  • Serve with fries of course!
For burger patties:
  • ground lamb meat, sold in 1lb packages from Safeway
  • dash of olive oil
  • salt, pepper, garlic powder
  • minced onion or shallot
  • spicy mustard
  • Mix ingredients by hand, form into patties.
  • Put a dimple in the middle!
  • Grill on med-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side for medium done.
  • Grill buns 2 minutes per side
  • Top with sauce and serve

Results:
  • Burgers are too thick! They become spherical even with a dimple. Try making them thinner than you think you should.
  • Yummy!
  • Dill was good! Maybe better than the mint.
  • 4 minutes per side on high heat (450F) is juicy but gray, even with pretty thick burgers.

Do:
  • peel cucumber, core and chop
  • mince mint leaves
  • combine cucumber with yogurt and mint, whip in bowl until mixed
  • combine turkey meat, finely minced onion, olive oil, salt, pepper, rosemary, mustard. mix with hands and then arrange into patties. put a little dimple in the middle!
  • grill for 6 minutes i think.
  • toast buns on grill
  • add cheese, sauce, red onion, and serve.
